Fundraising night for the famine crisis in Somalia
The Somali Community of Windsor is hosting a night of fundraising designed to aid the drought and famine stricken region of Somalia. All of The proceeds raised will go to Human Concern International as they are already on the ground with the relief work. The Community has been campaigning and pleading with the entire population of Windsor to joining the efforts. It’s encouraged that even if one can’t make it to the dinner that one still makes a donation to the cause as lives would be saved.
Most people spend too much time on the amount being donated and if they can’t afford to give a generous amount they generally shy away from coming forward with what little they CAN afford. We want to remind the Somali nationals living in the region and elsewhere and also everyone who desires to help that the amount is not equal in importance to the giving what you can part of act.
The CBC Television and Radio is doing its part to ensure the event is a success by informing the public. Now it’s up to us to education the general public and spear head the championing of the cause so that everyone who can will help.
