Alleviating the Crisis through American Refugee Committee

The humanitarian and refugee crisis in Somalia can no longer be ignored. We believe that a concerted effort from individuals like you is critical in order to curb the needless suffering and death.

Neighbors for Nations – Uniting Communities to Help Somalia is a program to strengthen the fabric of local communities in the U.S. by uniting and mobilizing to provide desperately needed help in Somalia. Basically, the efforts, creativity, hard work and support of people here will make our efforts in Somalia a reality. The Somali community in Minnesota has made Neighbors for Nations possible. For decades they’ve seen their home country suffer through war and one of the worst humanitarian emergencies in the world. They haven’t been able to make a systematic impact. With Neighbors for Nations, they’ll be able to engage their communities and those outside their community to bring lifesaving relief and development to Somalia.

THE HOPE TO END HUNGER: for the Drought Victims of Somalia

Reports indicate that 3.2 million Somalis, about 45% of the entire population, are suffering from hunger and malnutrition and are in dire need of emergency humanitarian assistance. Of the 3.2 million, 650,000 children are under the age of five.

In addition to the humanitarian crisis in Somalia, there are over a quarter million Somali refugees in Kenya alone. These refugees are living in very crowded and inadequate conditions. Despite these crises, news media are not covering these crises and there is a global silence on this staggering suffering.
